I've not been able to get into the workshop this week but have been looking through some of my recent work and looking back at this I think I should explore pointy ended vessels some more. This piece is called 'Germination' the vessel is representative of a nut with the 'lid' being the emerging tap root and the large natural hole being the split the shoot will emerge from.
Its 13" long and finished with oil. The stand is a piece of ivy with the bark stripped off.

Johnny, a revisit would be in order! This is an excellent piece - beautiful piece of elm with the natural opening. When I first saw it, the mental image of a split pea pod came to mind, but I agree with your interpretation.

Beautiful work Johnny. I really like the way you've use the natural features of the wood to add to the organic concept. The base really displays it well too.

Thanks for the replies :) I will post some new work when I get a chance to make some! My wife gave birth to our second child(a daughter) on the 8th, so I'm spending a while helping out around the house and looking after our little boy of 19 months.
