I had one more piece of mahogany from the same board so I thought I would make a companion piece to the other I did. This one has a different grain orientation then the last. I like the band in the grain on this one.

Another thing learned. The ebony I used on the two pieces really shrank. Both finials are now looser fitting then I would like.:(

Finish is AO, it will get a couple more coats
6 1/4 x 4 1/2

Another great looking piece Mark, I like the band of color and goes around this alot as well. I love the finial to, I wish I could to the proportions as well on mine.

Mark, very nice work! I agree on the banding - really adds to the piece and picks up on the ebony, too. I like your form on this one, and the detailing on the finial is very good.

Another keeper Mark. I have to really admire your work with finials after completing my my first one last night. They are a lot harder then they look.
