spindle adapters

Last year at the scratch and dent sale, I bought a Grizzly lathe. When I got it home, I found out it had a non standard 1"X 12 spindle. Many accessory manufacturers do not make face plates, chucks etc in that thread. Does anyone know of a source for an adapter that goes from 1' X12 female to 1"x 8 male? Local machine shop wants $150 to make one.

Caution! It is a very good lathe except for thread size. If you own a bunch of acc with 1 x8 or 1 1/4 x8 you may wnat to consider another lathe.
