Hi Allhttp://www.woodworkforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gifhttp://www.woodworkforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gifhttp://www.woodworkforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Managed to get some time away from the honeydo list and finished of these two
The burl is a coolabah and has a striking gum vein pattern it is 300 across the top and the "bowl" is 170 in dia stands 60mm high.finished to 600# and currently has 4 coats of "Organ Oil" I will give it a couple more and then a buff
I am not sure of the type of pine this platter is made from as it was a found by the roadside bit. It has a pleasant "honey like" smell as it was turned. pleased with the result it is 220 in dia and stands 30 high the wall is from 4mm to 6mm at the base finished to 600 , EEE and 3 coats of a mix of Shelawax cream and liquid. I have a few blanks of this left and am looking forward to turning themhttp://www.woodworkforums.com/images/smilies/standard/biggrin.gif
I was encouraged by members of my turning club to enter these pieces in a competition ... I was not sure but entered them in the Blacktown Show
and to my great delight the were awarded 1st. & second
this is the first award I have won for my woodturning and I am stoked......http://www.woodworkforums.com/images/smilies/standard/biggrin.gifhttp://www.woodworkforums.com/images/smilies/standard/biggrin.gifhttp://www.woodworkforums.com/images/smilies/standard/biggrin.gifhttp://www.woodworkforums.com/images/smilies/standard/biggrin.gifhttp://www.woodworkforums.com/images/smilies/standard/biggrin.gifhttp://www.woodworkforums.com/images/smilies/standard/biggrin.gif
