Guys, I have the Fein 1800 router that Fein no longer makes or supports. It's a great router in that it's powerful and VERY quiet and smooth, which makes it nice to use. However, it's hard to get parts, and I also can't find my instruction manual. Does anyone have a manual that they don't need anymore or have a digital version that they could send me? Any insight on getting parts or accessories would be great too. I'm going to start sounding eBay but alternatives would be good. Many thanks.

Hugh:

This is only the parts manual link:
http://www.fein.de/media/corp/documents/ustools/rt1800e_router_breakdown.pdf

I have that router and installed a knob to ease raising base in a BenchDog trouter table.

I also have 2 Fein vacuums from WalterTool.com - why not send them an e-mail?

What parts do you need? Here's a tip on router collets - I found out that the collets on my Elu 3HP router (Dewalt 625) are the exact same as the collets on my Festool 1400. So there must be a company in Germany that only makes high-quality collets. There's a slight chance your Fein collets are the same...

Dave,

I found that parts breakdown earlier today before posting. Before posting I also called Walter Tool. They said they no longer had any parts for the Fein router, even though they were the last to buy up parts from Fein after they stopped making the router.

Julian,

My collets are actually in great shape. The Fein, like the Dewalt 625, is closely based on the Elu plunge router. I actually have a 625 and it's extremely similar to the Fein. Unfortunately not similar enough, however. For instance, the dust extraction shrouds look identical, but the Dewalt's is a little wider and thus won't fit on the Fein. (My Fein's shroud has a broken tab.) I'd also like to know a source for brushes, should those every need replacing. I should think, though, that brushes for the 625 might work. I also am missing my manual and would like to get a copy. I contacted Fein but disappointingly they don't have them.

Old thread I know but I thought I'd add that the RT 1800 is the same as the Trend T-9. Some spare parts are available from Trend Direct UK (https://www.trenddirectuk.com/trend-spares/power-tool-and-safety-spares/t9-spares) and Axminster (https://www.axminster.co.uk).

The universal sub-base from Peachtree (http://www.ptreeusa.com/rtr_router_base_plate.htm), Infinity, Lee Valley and others fits this router, allowing you to use the generic PC-type guide bushes
Trend guide bushes from Woodcraft (https://www.woodcraft.com/products/trend-euro-style-plastic-metric-guide-bushing-set-12-piece-odds) are directly compatible with the RT 1800
Muscle Chuck Type 2 quick-change collets (http://http://www.musclechuck.com/portfolio-view/type-2/) are also compatible with the RF 1800
Trend T9 / CMT 1E collets are compatible direct replacements. Imperial-sized replacements can be ordered from MTMC UK (https://www.mtmc.co.uk/CMT-Router-Collets__c-p-0-0-12732581.aspx)
The RT 1800 was made in Italy by Felisatti (R346EC) for Fein (RT 1800), Metabo (OF-1612), Trend (T-9) and CMT (1E) and I think Holz-her as well

Hope this helps.

Good information Peter. I have the manual if anybody was still interested in getting a copy. Love the router and it's still going strong.
