I am new to this laser engraving thing and I have had issues with the clarity and even-ness of some of the projects I do.

First, it seems the sides or edges of logos or whatever I am engraving come out clean and clear and the middle or center of it doesn't? Everything is flat and I just don't understand. I have wasted a lot of material.

Also, is there a way to get small logos to not look blurry? Is it about the lens size?

Thanks.

I attached a pic of the project I am working on, it does not show the detail the way I was hoping.

what kind of laser are you using(company, wattage) and power settings, material. I would say if it is a logo then it may be because you are using a .jpg, or a .bmp image which have a bad resolution and dpi usually

also are you using an auto focus? if your images are coming out "blurry" it can also be a focus issue, try manually focusing it.

I am using a GRAVOGRAPH LS100Ex 30 watt laser. And it is not a logo, I am using actual type in my program.

The material is Gravograph Ultra the settings were 30 Power and 100 Speed

Looks like a possible alignment issue... as the carriage gets farther away from the laser source, the beam goes off center of the focus lens and can give you a "smudged" edge. Make sure your beam alignment is perfect first, and then we can check other things if that's not it.

I think the problem is with your power setting. Use more power.

Try 50 power, 100 speed, 500dpi. It's what I use 95% of the time on my LS100. I also suggest staying away from Gravograph material. It's far more expensive than Romark and IPI. Nothing wrong with the material, just vastly over priced.
