The segmented bowl is 15 inches in diameter and 6.5 inches high. I alternated Curly Maple and Hard Maple in each ring. I don't know what anyone would do with a segmented bowl this large, but I just wanted to make it. The first guy I show it to bought it.

The other is from a piece of American Elm that Jeff Nicol sent when he sent the steady rest he made me.

The third one is just to show relativity.

What ya think?

Bill, The big one is about the size of a good salad bowl down under. :) Nice pair all the same

Nice work. That first one is about the right size for a cereal bowl at my house.

Big bowls are the "money" bowls. Your joinery is impeccable. No wonder someone grabbed it quickly.

Bill, I like the big bowl!! Bet that thing has some heft to it, too. The curly maple and hard maple show well together. The elm piece came out very well, too, and sure is dwarfed inside that bowl!

Wow! Really like that segmented bowl! The wood combination really works! Great 'family' size and I can see why it sold so quickly! Congrats on the sale!

The Elm bowl looks very nice as well! You did a really good job on hollowing it! I have turned Elm and MAN can that stuff get hard!
