OK so I have been meaning to do this for a couple days, but have been busy, so today I took some pic's.

This is everything I ordered last week, minus some hardware and fret saw blades and such.
I ordered me chipbreakers and blades for my planes, a couple already had new irons to they just got chipbreakers.

Ooh I also just picked up the 5/8" and 1" chisles. I picked up the others a few weeks ago at the LN Tool event.

What brand of stones are those? I must have missed where you posted that? Very nice haul.

Sweet! Love the shaptons. I have *exactly* the same ones. They are *excellent* stones.

Tony they are Shapton Pro stones. Grits of 1000, 5000, and 15000. I think the grit jumps are just about perfect. The Shaptons are much nicer to use then the Kings they replaced.

How you liking those stones, andrew?

I still think the absolute fastest way to get a very sharp edge is a hollow grind and a straight jump from the 1000 to the 15000 on the bevel and a quick polish with the 15k on the back. You can literally sharpen a chisel in 30 seconds and it takes several sharpenings before the stone needs anything other than a spritz of water.

I have been tinkering with some other stones lately (including a chosera 10k), but I keep going back to the 1,5,15k shapton combination as the ideal practical sharpening setup. Takes maybe a little time to develop the skill (a day or two?) to use the 15k freehand effectively, but not too much and once you get used to the feel, you're totally off the hook worrying about the wire edge like what can persist off of A2 on an 8k king. No soak, little flattening. Just hone and go.

Lots of money, but loads of good stuff. Congratulations!
