Over the holidays I picked up some laminate beam scrap out of a construction scrap pile. I decided to give it a whirl on the spinny thing. Turned fairly easy, though the glue did dull the tools some.

The plater is about 12" diameter. I coated it with dye and then used hard wax stick. The dye rubbed through on some, but I think it kind of looks neat. Anyways, taking something that was heading for the dumb.

I agree with ---Looks neat. What kind of dye did you use?

That's really neat... I would love to try some of that material for pens, but can't find any around here..... if you have some extra scrap email me if you would like to get rid of it... LOL

The colorburst (I think) dye from woodcrafts.

Tom, I would more than happy to save the scraps for you. Not sure how well they would actually turn for pens, at least this type of beam. This seems to be more like OSB in a 2" piece versus other LVL's I hve scene. But I'd be happy to send you some. Send me a PM, I don't have much scrap but I am sure there is enough for a pen or two or three, or four.
