Hey y'all, I thought I would share this with ya. This one was sold before I finished turning it (that made me feel really good)

9" diameter and about 2.25" high. Sanded to 600, sealed with dewaxed blonde shelac, finished with WOP, and buffed to a thin super high gloss.

Its a slight variation on the form I have been doing recently, this was somewhat of an experiment. I like how it turned out, and the customer, loved it.

I included a couple of macro shots for the kids ;)

C&C Welcome and always appreciated! Thanks for looking ---Rick

Looks great Rick. Maple burl is another of those hey look at me woods. The less is more treatment here really works, it lets the wood be the star. Very nice.

Rick that's a beauty! I really like how you left a little of the natural wood. Congrats on selling it too.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the comments and compliments, its nice to make things that people appreciate/enjoy. Oh yes, the money from the sale is going back into the vortex... probably into more wood. Now I just need to sell a bunch more LOL

A#1 In my experience, simple shapes, that let gorgeous wood show itself, are candidates for fast sales. Super piece.

So, when I had shown the bowl to the customer to make sure she still wanted it. Several other people were there... One of them told me last night that they want to commission me to make a bowl for them :D... I guess this is how it starts huh?

I was grinning ear to ear, to say the least;)
