Ken, That is quartersawn white oak The dimensions are 7/8" thick by 37 1/2" wide by 18 3/4" high The raised molding is 5/8 by 1" wide. I did all the radiused cope and stick cuts on bearing guided templates and all the straight cuts by climb cutting with a power feeder. It took about 8 hours to make the transom and another 4-5 hours for the molding. The arched molding was a fair challange to create mainly because of the small cross section
Sorry I didn't post all this with the picture. The system was apparently not functioning last night and I thought I had deleted the post

At first glance i thought maybe it was hand carved.

That will look great when installed on any transom.

The more I look at that piece the more I like it .... and I would have thought it was hand carved also ....

8 hours?? admirable ... more like 8 weeks for me!!!

Joe,

That is quite a piece of work. Must have taken some time ciphering all the dimensions and making the templates. I'm impressed.

ciphering the radii isn't as bad as you may think. The trick is to start on the outside (largest) one and deduct for each new radius untill you get to the smallest.

And you are correct , I generally spend half the time cutting out the carrier jigs.

thanks for the support :)
