Hey, all. Real life has gotten in the way of turning for the past several weeks. I've lurked when I could. You all seem to be continuing to do all your fantastic stuff as usual. I finally got a bit of time the last two weekends to get back on the horse. Scored a bit of local walnut and rough turned it:

and returned an apple piece I roughed out early in the Fall.

Feels good to be back at a little. Hope to participate more.

Happy Spring!

That apple looks really nice in the sunshine, and it appears to be crack-free. Also looks like a nice day there. Not only no jacket, but short sleeves as well! Color me jealous.

Watch that hot light on the roughout !!, splits are there before you know it.

Beautiful bowl you made from the Applewood, something I love turning also, it just looks so good when aged a bit :-))

Thanks, all.

Jon, no cracks, but that one knot (upper left) goes through - look for the sky;-) S'okay with me, but not so good for soup.

We did a taste o'Spring in Chevy Chase today. I hope yours comes soon.

Thanks, Leo! The roughs were coated with anchorseal. I just put 'em up here for a moment to take the shot. Walnut definitely can be crack prone; I've learned that one the hard way when I left some disk cut blanks too long before getting to the roughing.

Great looking apple bowl. Hope you have and post some more of it! Don't think I would ever get tired of turning or looking at it. Seems like every piece is a little different.

Really like that applewood bowl, must have been a big tree to get all of that heartwood.

Sean, you do such "clean" bowls! Really nice work on the apple, and I bet the walnut will really be nice - love the sapwood inclusions in those. They will be showpieces.

Very nice job on the apple bowl, Sean. Looks light as a feather and the wood is beautiful. Those walnut blanks will make some outstanding bowls as well. Glad you are back to turning/posting.
