Well, I had a busy weekend, some new, some finishing up rough turnings.

The first is a spalted _______ wood (oak?)bowl (7.5" rim x 2.5" deep) that I won at the weekly raffle from the SWMetro ATL Turners Club

Here is a laminated Elm Bowl (6.5" x 2")I have been working on. JK helped me with some design ideas. It was an experiment, so I am not too worried about the final appearance, but I tried a Copic Pen, tinted epoxy resin, and transtint dye on different elements.

This was a Natural Edge 'funnel' that I salvaged into a NE Ring Holder for the LOML. I try to salvage what I can !!!! Its some Cherry a good friend gave me from a tree in his yard.

Lee, very nice group of turnings!! I don't think the first one is oak, but it sure is a nice bowl, and the wood is really nice. The laminated bowl looks great! And, excellent save on the ring holder, too. Looks like it was meant to be.;)

Thanks for the help on the laminated bowl! The 'void' I filled with epoxy tinted with blue Trans Tint dye ... and I added a wee bit of that blue dye on the brown accent dye around the rim. Not exactly what I was looking for ...

I wish I would ask about mystery wood !!!! I will next month when I go.

Looks like you had some fun! Really like the first bowl! I agree with John - doesn't look like Oak to me because I don't see any medullary rays.
