Here is my latest attempt in segmented turning. I have the book Woodturning with Ray Allen and have been wanting to do this project similar to his works with diamonds in the feature ring for a couple years now. Making the diamond feature ring was a learning experience. 170 pieces made up of walnut and maple, 6.5”diameter, 5” tall. Thanks.

Michael - looks pretty good to me! Form looks great - as does your detail ring! You should be happy with this one! Nice work!

Segmenting really amazes me! First, making 170 pieces, then making them fit into a puzzle, then turning the whole thing and hoping it turns out like one envisioned - just impressive. Very nice work on this one!

Beautiful work. Someday I'll get good enough to try something like that.

Not bad at all. Diamonds are one of the harder feature rings to make in my opinion.

Looks darn good to me. I have Ray's book too, and it's full of inspiration. That is one of my favorite designs he shows. I just don't have the talent or patience to pull one off. Great work.

Really a nice piece Mike. I have Ray's book but have just never tried anything yet.
