Well I wanted to show some of you where I've been. And what I've done. All of you assisted me when I asked questions about purchasing this laser. So I thought it's only fair I show you.
The biggest problem now is what to charge as far as pricing. I picked up one customer from the man I purchased it from. So far they are good for a few hundred dollars a month. Wood Crafter here in town charges $2.00 a minute. Set up fees range from $25-$35? Any thoughts

Nice work! As for the prices - some people will tell you that they would be out of business if they charged those prices and others, like me, will agree with your prices. I base my estimates on $120/hour and my setup is a minimum of $25. You can't have a "set" setup charge as the jobs you do will all be different. You really need to be able to guestimate your setup time and base your charge on that time.

Glenn, congratulations on getting your new biz up and running right away! It's nice to hear these days.

My personal opinion is that it is unfair to charge per hour when you are just starting out - you are a lot slower & less efficient than you will be a year from now, so why are you worth more now than you will be then? And why are you worth more than a seasoned pro who can do the job in half the time? That's just my opinion.

Charge what the market will bear for your area, your item and your customers. As you become more efficient, you will make more money per hour. That's the way it should be.
