Being that turkey season is just around the corner I have been working mostly on call as of late. I do have a couple bowls that I work on in between calls that I hope to finsih up by the weekend, but until then here are a few that I finished up today.
Thanks for looking,
Jack
This one is a rhododendron burl set in a purple heart pot, ceramic over glass.

This one is bocote slate over glass. The bocote is almost like Birdseye down the middle.

This is a hickory slate over glass I made for a local hunter who wanted a call that would match his new hardwood floor.

This is walnut slate over glass that I made as payment for a fellow North Carolinian that gave me 5 nice size cherry burls and the walnut for two calls.

Jack, you do beautiful work on these!! I love the rhododendron burl and walnut, but the bocote is probably my pick of this bunch - very distinct figure and color fitting of a turkey call!

I'm kinda partial to the bocote one this time around but they are all just beautiful, I think this is something I would like to try but just haven't gotta around to it yet.

Thanks everyone, the bocote has some very nice grain to it. The picture dosen't show much of the pretty grain in the rhodendron burl, but it is my favorite wood for calls.
Happy Turning,

I got to get back to trying these. When you sign these, do you use a pen or burn it and is it beneath the top finish coat?

Thanks again everyone. Matt I use a zig brand pen I used to get at our local walmart in the scrap book section. Write what you want on the bare wood and put what ever finish you want over it and they don't bleed or fade. I have used other scrap book pens my wife has with the same result.
