Has anyone had success in mounting an overhead Brett Guard to a cabinet saw with the Incra TS-LS fence? The Brett Guard weighs about 45# and would normally mount to the rear angle on a Biesemeyer style fence system. I spoke with Mark at Incra Tools and he noted my concerns of the weight placed on the extruded aluminum Incra rails. He agreed that the cantilever mount may cause the rails to twist without additional support.
Any photos, diagrams, etc. of a successful set-up would be appreciated.
The Brett Guard is the 30” cantilever unit. I attached a diagram of how it mounts.
Thanks,
Jim

I have a Biesemeyer overhead guard mounted on an Incra fence.
I mounted it to the bottom T slot. I got some larger T nuts from Woodpecker.

Chris,

Did you add mounting brackets for the rear rail to the table out towards the end of the rail to help support the weight of the overarm? I'm assuming you did but I don't see any. I see the tops of 2 incra brackets mounted to the saw top itself.

I'm thinking of doing this myself. Your picture is very helpful. Wasn't sure if it could be done this way.

Thanks, Brian

I did add a simple support bracket.
I used a 1 x 4, the returns on each end are 5" long.
I used rabbet joints at the corners & I attached it to the inside T slot on the rails with t nuts.

Chris,
Thanks for your help and the great pictures.
Do you notice any twisting or movement in the Incra rails?
Based on your information, a new challenge has been presented to get the Brett Guard mounted.
Thanks Again,
Jim

You are welcome Brian & Jim.

Jim. I have not noticed any problems with the rail. I will add that the extension table is also attached to the rail & that also adds extra support to the rail.
