I had a log outside for about 5 months.I couldnt find anybody to cut it for me so I just did it today with chainsaw.Does it look good to you or is it start roting.

I'm building a bench out of solid ash and yeah, it varies from light to dark. It looks good to me too.

Jaromir, it looks fine to me too. You're generally ok storing wood in the log over the winter months. Most of the decay occurs during the warmer summer months, expecially in the south.

Checking is more the issue than rot, when the log was stored 5 months before milling. You should get some usable lumber from the heartwood. Ends and sapwood may already have defects. Remember, your ash must still be air dried at least a year for each inch of board thickness. (rule of thumb)
