Here's a video link to a tour of my shop. Not real fancy but I manage to get things done. The video's not so hot but I think you can see how I manage in cramped quarters.

jim, the number one thing I like is the outfeed table on your table saw. Even though it takes up room, I find it also keeps that space clear for safe cutting. Next, I love your use of vertical space - organized wall storage, under table storage everywhere, and the dust collector on top of shop vac. Great job and thanks for showing it to us.

Thanks, I love shop tours. It always amazes me how well people are able to utilize space.

I wish I had that much room, my shop is only 12x16. The only nice thing is I don't have to move the yard stuff out of the way to work in the shop.
I did notice that was not much saw dust around....:D

I liked the old table saw converted to a router table. Great idea!

That video was made after 2 days of clean up. Otherwise, you wouldn't have seen the top of the table or the benches. :D

Thanks all for the nice comments,

Loved your tour, great use of limited space. Thinking about your concern for the "heavy dew" in Houston. Here in Maine that would equate to 6" of snow this time of year.

Jim, nice shop tour. How did you convert the ts to router table? How did you mill the cast iron to mount the router plate? Thanks, Paul

I have a co-worker that has a home machine shop and he milled it for me. The big problem is that it is not solid cast iron under the table top. There is webbing in the areas that are essential for a TS top but not necessarily in the right spot for a RT. He machined it using my router plate as a guide and there was enough webbing to hold it and he was very good. The plate fits perfectly. I had to remove some sheet metal from the stand to get access and added the STOP switch so I didn't have to put my hand up in a dark cabinet. I moved one extension table around to the "end" of the RT and need to return that to him to mill a clearance for the miter gage bar. I had already mounted the Delta T2 fence before the saw burned up.

I paid the guy $20 and swapped some high pressure sodium lights I had that he wanted. I had absolutely no use for them and he thought he did so we were both pleased with the deal.

Nice use of space. I had a garage shop, but my wife recently found out that the garage was actually for cars. I need to organize better and at least your video shows it's possible.

Nice tour Jim, nice use of your space. I also like the conversion of the tablesaw, way to give new life to an old tool.

Ok, Ok, you're not winning that argument with her, or any other wife probably. Good luck on the redo of your shop...........

Good tour of your shop Jim. I put too much explanation into my video tour (which I haven't posted here...). For some reason, I thought your shop was bigger than that... I have the same "lip" problem with my shop floor. Along with a 6" slope end to end. Makes leveling tools up a REAL challenge...

Nice shop and great use of space. I definitely need to add Barney to my shop. I could use the extra security. Thanks.

What I found funny is that I have the same metal poster, 'Security By Fife' hanging in my garage.

My shop isn't in the garage, but recently my wife remarked on how i'm out of room in the shop, and how i need to/should add on.
