I have been lurking here for a while and have replied to a few questions, but it is now time to introduce myself.
I was born in New Britain, CT and grew up in a Stanley family, Dad, Grampa, and Gramma worked for Stanley Tools. Having grown up around woodworking and woodworking tools you might expect that is how I got into woodworking. Not so. After highschool I served a machinst appreciceship at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and later a toolmaking apprenticeship at another big aircraft parts maker. It wasn't until 1970 that I got into furniture making.
These days I work part time as an inspector at a friends machine shop. I have my own shop where I build, repair and restore antique and vintage furniture. I also make replacement knobs and totes for Stanley planes and I deal in antique, vintage and user woodworking and machinist tools.
I hope I can contribute something here.
Thanks.
