i just got this hand plane from my shop teacher and cleaned it up on the blade i found an unusual symbol btw the plane is a #3 Stanley bailey183373

Apparently it is a replacement blade by the Hudson Tool Company - hard to find specific references online, but there are a few similar.

Well thank you George - not as many as I'd like to show there, but I'll get back to it when my new bench is done. Likewise, I'd like to see more of your carvings there or here - even if it's just detail work like the violin head. You must do some carving with all those Pfiels.

Sorry Michael - didn't mean to stray: there are about 4 stanley planes with those blades on various auction sites now that you can look at - the only place that named the mark was Liberty tools...I am sure someone knows more about Hudson than me.
