Need to (Better) learn Excel. I do not have Excel on my computer. If I download Open Office, and learn on that, will I be good to go in front of an Excel program or will it just confuse me?

Any downside to Open Office vs Excel?

Dave,

The 2 programs are very similar so learning on open office give a good grounding for MS excel. There may be minor differences but they are very similar.

Similar, but for example there are differences in functions that was frustrating to me. Office Home and Student is $115 at Amazon. LOML needed it on her laptop for when she brings work home, but the license lets us use it on 3 computers.

Dave,
Check out Teachucomp on the Internet, they sell very reasonably priced tutorial software that will help you learn most of the MS Office programs and they frequently have sales with 50% to 75% off on their products.

If you work for a large company that has an Enterprise Agreement with Microsoft you can get Office for home use for $10.
