I like the colors and grain patterns in the scrub oak that grows around her but it doesn't grow big enough to make anything with much size. This piece was just right for one of these birdhouses though. This is 12" tall and 4" wide at the widest part. Turned in two pieces, basically a goblet with a lid.

Curt, overall, this is one of my favorites of the recent birdhouses. While some of the others have been very unique in form, wood, etc., this one really just kind of works together very well. The roof design is perfect for the piece, and I like the little extra profiling on the main form. The scrub oak has a lot of character to it, as well.

Seems like you have been working on the "housing shortage" for the aviary fans recently!! Nice work1

Another winner Curt! Really like the 'hut' style natural edge roof! Totally makes the piece!

Nice stuff there Curt.........I think you have this concept down to a science now. I would imagine that if one could be made "life size" and put outside, you would have a waiting list for occupancy, now that nesting season is nearing for a lot of species. You would need the ability to have a bottom or top that could be removed for clean out, but that would attract a lot of perspective renters!
