I have finished my new woodshop. I started the groundwork back in July 2010. Worked on it every weekend and a few days off from work until Labor Day when I had the exterior buttoned up. The interior went slower but finally is completed.

I got help from my 2 brothers, my mom and dad, nephew, niece, and a few friends. Could not have done it without them!

Here is the progression from start to finish of the shop's construction. (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?146015-New-Shop-Construction-Finally-Underway)

Here is a exterior view of the shop. The shop is the extension to the left, it is 28'x28'.

Here is a interior tour of the shop:

This is the northwest corner of the shop In the corner is one of my workbenches. It has 6 drawers and below them are shelves that hold my Grizzly mortiser, Dremel scroll saw, 12.5" Delta planer, and Delta BOSS. Above the bench I have some pegboard with miscellaneous jigs and stuff. In the center of my shop is my primary workbench. Under the top is a great storage area with 16 drawers on one side and on the other side it has doors with shelves to store other items.

This is the west wall of the shop. The door leads to the garage. In the center of the wall is my plywood storage cabinet. Beside that is my pipe clamp assortment.

This is the southwest corner of the shop. The woodstove is my source of heat for the winters here in northern MN. This year got to close to 40 degrees below zero at night, and the shop stayed about 30 above without any heat, and warmed up fast once I started the fire. In the corner is the filter stack from the cyclone. I left the cyclone in the garage. To the left is Grizzly belt/disk sander. Overhead hangs my Grizzly air cleaner.

This is the south wall of the shop. My Craftsman router table with Bosch 1617 router. Above the belt/disk sander and router table I am going to build and install a wood rack system for my specialty and current project lumber. To the left of the window is my 60's era Craftsman radial arm saw on the cabinet I built for it.

This is the southeast corner of the shop, In the corner is room for a future lathe. In the center of the shop is my Grizzly G0586 8" jointer and Grizzly G1033 20" planer.

This is the east wall of the shop. Of the right is my 1 1/2 hp Grizzly shaper. Beside that is a Delta 18/36" drum sander. To the left of the window is room for a future moulder.

http://www.crowsnest.us/images/DCP_1337.JPG

This is the northeast corner of the shop. In the corner is a bathroom. On the right bathroom wall is my 14" Grizzly drill press. To the left of bathroom is the downdraft table I built that I set on a bench and hook up to the dust collection system. Above the downdraft table is my stereo.

On the north wall of the shop is my Grizzly 16" band saw. Next to that is my Craftsman miter saw and station that I built for it. Under the right wing is my Craftsman shop vac. Above the left wing is my Quickgips and wood clamps.

Again I have to thank my family and friends for their assistance, without their help I would have never got done!

Great shop and nice tour! I must say I am jealous the first dirt was brought in for my shop today. I have been planning this for a year so I am getting very anxious! You have really been fast at it the last couple of months!

Beautiful workspace, Todd! Nice and bright (and clean, but I'm sure that's just for the photos). A dream come true for you, I'm sure. We love shop tours here, so thanks for taking the time to show this to us!

Looks great! Now build something!!!!

I think I see air lines running to your blast gates- did you build new ones or re-use the old ones? How did you end up triggering the solenoid valves? (I still think you should have run your DC ducting in a crawl space! :D :D )

Fabulous shop!! Thanks for the tour. It's always fun to see how everyone sets up their shops.

Since the space isn't heated [save for the wood stove], is your bathroom area at risk for freezing?

Scratch that. I had a look at your build thread and see that you have radiant floor heat too. Very nice.

MAN !

Nothing like a blank slate, allowing you to build it Your Way, lay out the tools the most efficient way for YOUR work style, and plumb such a wonderful DC system.

Beautiful.

I wish you many years of safe, enjoyable time in there. It's just a great looking shop !

Looks beautiful. Congrats. As to the title of your thread . . . it contains the phrase "Setup Completed!!" Now, you know that no shop is ever truly completed but, enjoy the fantasy while you can :D:D:D. Seriously though. What a wonderful space. I am soooo jealous of your DC in a closet with the filters in the corner ;).

I only needed one additional pneumatic blast gate. I have 120V solenoid valves that I hook to the switch of the machine that I have on that DC drop.

Library is still under construction, so I guess I am not quite complete. I have to install the sink and toilet. I have a baseboard heater to keep it from freezing in the bathroom.

Kim and I were down by Eau Claire Wi a couple weekends ago getting a combine. Took all day to get there, load it and get back home and unload.

I do have to make the trim for the doors and windows, so I still have work to do, but I can now use the shop!

The interior went slower but finally is completed... I can now use the shop!

Todd

Fantastic!! Your shop looks great. I bet you are very excited to have your shop at that stage. The interior on mine is taking forever, but I don't have the extra help.

I like all the drawer space under your assembly table. That's something that I need to add to mine. That stove must get a lot of use where you live. I'm very envious of your DC system. That's the one thing I don't have and don't see how I could ever afford it.

Enjoy.

There is something not quite right about it...

It's not in my yard.

Fantastic shop. I'm jealous!

looks nice, specially like the glossy ceilings and lack of dust
do you have a layout of where all the equipment is?
I am always looking for different layouts
thanks

I have been working on the layout of the shop for several years.

I did the layout in 2D

http://www.crowsnest.us/images/Pengilly_Shop_Remodel_V11a.jpg

Then I got SketchUp and did the layout in 3D.

The Sketchup drawing is here. (http://www.crowsnest.us/woodshop/Pengilly_Shop_Remodel_V11.skp)

thanks todd!

I have not found the right layout for my shop yet

Not only it is very nice but even nicer because you accomplished it together with the help of family and friends. Kudos to all...

That is an excellent shop. I love the tie in to the main house, keeps the look clean for sure. It is plenty obvious you did a LOT of shopping from the Grizzly Catalog. Some very nice equipment in there to be sure...

Only one thing I don't totally get, you put the cyclone in a separate enclosure, but you piped the filter back into the main shop. I am assuming the Cyclone is in the garage then? I assume you did that so that you would be able to limit the noise from the cyclone, but not blow your conditioned air outside... Am I right?

Don't forget he has a wood stove. I'm sure he doesn't want to suck the flue gases and smoke into the shop.

I love the wood stove, sure could use one to get rid of all my mistakes.
