The LOML and I are headed to DC for the weekend from CT to visit with some friends. Being wonderful, she suggested that we look for any wood turning galleries or exhibits that we could stop at on the way down or in DC. I have done a little research and have not found anything great yet. I had hoped to go to the "Revolution of Wood" exhibit at the Smithsonian but it closed Jan 30 :(!. Are there turning related sites we should stop and check out?
Thanks
Pat

The Renwick is my favorite of all the Smithsonian museums. Even if the exhibit of the time is not turning related there are always turning on display there. This museum is small compared to other Smithsonian properties but worth the trip. Close to the White House so when you are there detour to the Renwick for an hour or so.

I'll second the nomination of the Woodturning Center in Philli. Google map it. I walked there one time from the Liberty Bell. They have an amazing library of books for sale there. Spend a few bucks in support of the cause.

Not turning related but the American Portrat museum is not as crowded as other Smithsonian locations and very enjoyable. Check it out.

Thanks for mentioning this. I have a morning to kill in Philly next month and may very well use this to fill in that time slot.
