Festool vac and Makita sanders?

Following up on my dust collection question below, is there any reason a person can't use the Festool vac with my Makita ros's? I can't go the Rotec sander just now so I thought i might start with the vac. Any thoughts?

FEIN sells two soft rubber adapters that might be useful. I had a similar problem with my FEIN shop vac and PC power tools.

The straight adapter is simply a flexible hose section
