I know most here seem to prefer the new Bosch saw, but Lowes has the Freud jigsaw marked down to $107 from $119 . Hope this helps someone who cannot justify the Bosch price .

That Freud FJ85 jigsaw is an excellent saw for the money. I've had one for a number of years without a single complaint. I used a freinds Bosch 1587 once and quite frankly couldn't tell the difference, performance wise, between the two. The new Bosch 1590, at about $170, is just now catching up with features the Freud has had for years.

Lowes has the older 1587 Boschs down to 139.00 I noticed a week ago.

I just bought a Bosch 1587 from amazon for $119, applied for the Amazon credit card and got $30 off. So final cost after free shipping (4 days) was $89. I think that was a good deal.

... and it works very nicely. I had no idea how crappy my old jig saw (30 yrs old) was.

HD has "older" Bosch jigsaw packed w a ROSander both for $138. This is still an EXCELLENT jigsaw altho some say the new version is a little better on blade changing.I personally would take Bosch over Frued..IMHO

I have two of the older model Boschs. I like them a great deal. But what's interesting is that one of them is made here in the U.S. And the newer one that I bought was made in China. I don't notice any difference in them. Anyone know about this change?
