Break the bank is a relative term. Freud makes a 60 tooth 7-1/4 carbide tipped blade that does a very nice job on plywood, about 19-20 bucks, they also make a 40 tooth which I have not used for about 15 bucks. Would assume the 40 toother is a pretty good quality blade all around blade.

Freud Diablo.
Cheap at the orange borg and far better than the low price would imply. I put one on a cutoff saw and thought enough of it to put one on my table saw. Good quality and value.

+3 on the Freud. I got mine at HD originally for cutting PT deck boards. It's great for anything.

+4 on the Freud Diablo crosscut. They have a really thin kerf design which makes your saw fly through the cut. They leave a pretty clean cut. I would still support something like veneered plywood if I wanted a super clean cut.

The Freud Diablo D0760X (http://www.amazon.com/Freud-D0760X-Diablo-Finish-4-Inch/dp/B001CZEU0S/ref=sr_1_2?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1297650455&sr=1-2) @ $20 is a darn good bang for the buck. The LU79R007 will cut even cleaner, but runs ~ 2x the cost.

+whatever on the Diablo.
Good value @ about $20.

I got one a couple years ago and abused the heck out of it on about a dozen pieces of Durock. It still does a decent job on wood even after that.

I'm not sure if my Festool TS55EQ would help or not, but, since I'm on vacation this week and not all that far from you, just PM me of you want to come over and try it.
