Anybody have good plans for a fold-down outfeed table for a contractors table saw? Also I have to deal with a fairly good pitch on a basement floor so it must be adjustable.

Is the saw one of the newer "3/4 cabinet" models, or is it the traditionally contractor saw design with the motor hanging out the back?

The folding outfeed table we built for the unisaw was based on the design pictured here: http://benchmark.20m.com/tools/Unisaw/UnisawOutfeedTable/unisaw_outfeedtable.html

This could likely be adapted for one of the 3/4 cabinet models. I would be concerned about the motor getting in the way on a traditional contractor saw though.

I know you're asking for plans but the variation in saws would make me want to take the general idea and adapt it anyway. This is a common theme: http://www.budgetlighting.com/shop-tools/table-saw-outfeed-extension.jpg

There is no need to get fancy with this. Mine is simply formica covered plywood (w/mitre slots) attached to the saw with door hinges and folding legs so that I can collapse it if it gets in the way.

I think the design that Glenn linked to would be the best if it does have the motor out the back like a typical contractor saw has. Otherwise the table top wouldn't lay flat against the back. I have a little shelf on the back of mine that I use a mobile table I can roll up to it, but would have chosen Glenn's design if I was doing one now. And I would make the stationary shelf the full length of the extension table, and the fold down top the same length. Jim.

It is a Powermatic 63 and yes the motor is hanging on the back.

Take a look at this thread, maybe there's something here you can use. http://www.ridgidforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7542&highlight=outfeed (http://www.ridgidforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7542&highlight=outfeed) I built one for my Ridgid TS 3650 similar to those shown. Folds down, works great.

Rather than a fold-down table, you might consider a removable table. My outfeed table has folding legs on one side and hanger bolts (wood thread into the bottom of table) with the machine thread used for holding into the Biesemeyer fence support angle on back of saw. I can remove it to reduce footprint. The legs use folding/locking hinges from Rockler and tee-nut with adjusting screw at end for adjustment.

I'm building one following a fantastically simple one that was posted on another woodworking site.

Take a look at this one:

Another approach is in an article in the Woodworker's Journal February 2009 issue.

I think the design is more more elegant and easier to build in the first link above. But the Woodworker's journal one is slick too.
