Dean - what wood are you planning on using? Can you scan at 300 dpi and PM them to me?

Hi Dean; These pictures are only 96 dpi. They should be at least 300 dpi to get a decent engraving..

Dean I am sure that these guys will be more than happy to help you get started on your engravings, given half of a chance they can.
Might be an idea to help them out by at least stating the size of the piece you want to engrave it onto and what type of wood.

Wellll...not exactly. A 72dpi photo is not going to be improved much by resaving it as a higher resolution. The photo needs to start out as 300dpi. I have had pretty good success with taking a very large photo at low res, squashing it down to a much smaller size and res-ing it up to a higher number. This is iffy at best. If your camera can't deliver this, print it to hard copy, then scan it at 300dpi.
Oh, and by the way, save it as a Tiff or BMP format. Jpeg is a lossy format and everytime you save a jpeg you lose data.

Here's the 2 files resized. Not the best resizing job, but it's probably good enough for someone to work with. I just sized them, I did not prepare them, so if someone wants to take a whack at preparing them, here you go...

It's a zip file, and the link will expire in a day or so.....

Hope this helps.

I used the original photos posted and the results weren't bad. Let me know if you want the .bmp files and try them.

If it's on your computer, never save it as a .jpg, that will, in all probability, make it worse. Depending on your settings, every time you 'save' something as a .jpg it loses information, and multiple saves can make it just about useless.. Save as a .tif, or a .bmp to maintain whatever quality it currently has..
