Hi all,

What is the difference between Stanley planes made in the USA and those made in England? The reason I ask is that in adds they sometimes state USA or England ("Stanley nr. 3, England"or "Stanley nr. 4, USA"). This seems odd as it is one company with (I would hope) one set of standards.
 What am I missing?

regards,
Jasper

England made them for longer and still makes many of them.

Quality is about the same and is directly proportional to age....prewar is better. But they all have to be tuned for best results and the new planes can be made to function as well as the old.
