I have been given some apple wood. Nothing big but suitable for pen, stopper and similar sized items.
It is the most bland wood I have ever tried to use.
Thought of spalting it to get some character.
Large container with the pieces, bit of water, ammonia(manure) and leaves.
Turn occasionally.
Am I on the correct track?
Thoughts appreciated.
Thanks
Phil

Phil - to save my 2 fingers lots of typing - check out these threads and pay attention to what Seri Robinson has to say - she actually is an expert in the field of spalting!

Seri does a fabulous job spalting.

She did a demo at our woodturning guild last month.
