Had some shop time the last couple days so I finished a few pens. Thanks for looking and any comments or questions are always welcomed.

The first 2 pens are made from the same material, green truestone and faux casein. I mixed and matched the caps and barrels and I like the look of these. Looks classy. The kit is a Hybrid Cambridge with Titanium gold and sterling silver trim.

Your pens are fantistic, very well done. Your photos are excellent as well. Your choice of color for the blanks are an excellent choice for the kit color.
Thanks for sharing your work

John, I could tell right off that these pens are not the cheapos out of China :-))). I have never turned a pen but have seen it done many time. The material and the hardware make these pens one of a kind. Beautiful work.

The workmanship and materials are nice, but the pen kits are meretricious.

Thanks for the kind words. The green material is a truestone called Banded Malachite. It is a bit harder to turn than acrylics but with sharp tools and slow drilling it works beautifully. Some of my favorite material to work with. The white material is a faux casein which is basically acrylic. Real casein is a milk based product and is abit more chippier to use and drilling and turning are alot more difficult. This stuff is not quite as picky but still looks like the real thing. I like it alot better. Hopefully I am allowed to post the link to the source. http://www.exoticblanks.com/index.php?page=shop.browse&category_id=45&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=60

Had to look that word up and have to say strange use of it but to each his own.

meretricious: alluring by a show (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/show) of flashy or vulgar attractions; tawdry.
2. based on pretense, deception, or insincerity.

3. pertaining to or characteristic of a prostitute.

Thanks for the kind words and you are correct. These are not cheap kits. The material used is true Titanium gold and Sterling Silver. These are considered high end kits and sell basically to the pen collectors or to people who like to flash the cash. Not yopur everyday pen for sure. Is the kit a little gaudy, well that is up to the person looking at it or who is buying. I sold 2 of the green so there are buyers.

I had some people on other forums that wanted to see these 2 pens with their respective tops and bottoms so here they are. I guess it would look good either way. Thanks for the kind words.

John, those pens are exceptional. You are very talented!

May I ask if you used the Alternate Casein or the Ivory Casein? How did you make the grooves in the casein, or is that the way the blank is made?

Please continue to show off your work!

Eric

That is alternate casein and that is exactly the way the blank comes. No alterations to it. Just when drilling the blank for the tube, you need sharp bits and to go slow and keep the bit cool. Also I reversed painted the inside of the blank white because it does get a little transparent when turning that thin.

Those are some beautiful pens. Can I ask where you get the kits from?

Thanks for the kind words. These kits are the Hybrid Cambridge series and I got them from Woodcraft. They are pricey and it helps to buy in quantity for better pricing. I use this kit alot because I like the extra bling. Justifies charging abit more.
