I just got my plane back - Bill Rittner fitted a new cherry tote and knob - and boy, what an improvement!
I like the look of cherry next to blue.
The original plastic ones where not formed too badly, but they were a tad small, and slick.
The cherry ones are finished perfectly, with a lower front knob which is nice.
I am very happy with them.
Now for some sharpening...the chip breaker had huge gaps where it meets the iron. Gotta fix that.
The plane is about 7-10 years old, when they were still made in Great Britain.
