Howdy everyone,

I got a chance to get the HA blade scary sharp and in the Jack yesterday. I picked a piece of white oak with terrible power planer tearout and went for it. All I can say is WOW!!!!! The jack removed every bit of tearout and left a baby's butt smooth finsih. I was taking .0005 curlies with no effort and little adjustment. You could count to 3 before the shavings would hit the floor.

What a great plane this is!!!

Mark,

I used the scary sharp method through 2000 grit and the LV shapening jig. I can already see that it will be may favorite too.

I've also just recieved the LV LA Jack. Wow, what a bit of kit!!!! Unfortunately I don't have the HA blade, and therefore am having some problems with planing white oak - straight grain is fine, but when i get to the twisty bits I have problems. Looks like I need the HA blade - it was next on my list anyway.

The really good thing I find with this plane is that it is so easy to adjust from fine to coarse and back again. The adjustable mouth makes things so easy, as does all the immaculately machined surfaces. What a bit of engineering!

As most people have already mentioned, I can definately see this plane becoming my favourite!!!

Has anyone used the 112 scraping plane? I've read somewhere that it's supposed to be brilliant.
