I am just about to throw my laptop out the window. I been using Corel X5. I've tried some of the threads on here and no luck so far. Could someone post a pic of what a pic looks like before it goes to laser to give me a idea what one should look like. Thank you to anyone that could help.

I can, but they don't look very good on a screen.. They are optimized to look good on the wood..
As a matter of fact, they look incredibly ugly when displayed on a computer screen. Screens are not optimized to display 2 bit images. They like 8 and 24 bit images, but the laser needs a 2 bit to engrave.. It only sees black. When you import your 2 bit file into corel, your first impression will be "What's that!"

Here try this one... It will look cruddy in corel because of what I said above, but it should engrave into B.Birch OK.. On a 40 watt epilog laser, engrave at 25-35 speed, 600 dpi, 100 power.. You can try 300 dpi, (the image is 300) but 600 will give you a better burn.. It's not a perfect photo by any means, but it should serve the purpose
