So its been a very nice 28th for this young husband, father and new woodworker. I got up and spent some time with my Bible and then had breakfast with the wife and kids while watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse something or other. Then I made my way to the lumber yard with my blow money in hand. Having only been at this hobby for a little over a year, its still a very exciting thing for me to make a trip to my supplier and just take in the playground that is stacks and shelves full of all kinds of hardwood glory. As I waited my turn, I milled around and looked at a few different species and thought of how nice it'd be to have a few extra hundred dollars to take some "extras" home. Surely, I'd find a project for them someday. All the same, I grabbed a handful of sheets of ply and headed home. I have had a small cabinet project in the works for a while as I need some storage in the garage which doubles as my workspace.
At home I spent the vast majority of the day tweaking my outfeed table and building a crosscut sled. After several failed attemps to make a functional and accurate sled, this was very fun. Works like a dream!
I didn't even get a chance to use any of the actual gifts I got but I'll need them soon enough. My first dado set, a WoodRiver #5, flush trim bit, and some new brad point bits all are waiting to be cracked open still.
Yep, a pretty good day.
