This was inspired by Terry Scott. I had planned a different shape for the tail but the wood was not as strong as expected. A friend suggested "Star Trek Anomaly" as a name but I think "Sea Creature" fits. It is 12" wide x 16-1/2" long x 4" tall plus 2-1/4" for the finial. The wings are ~ 5/16" thick and the hollow form wall thickness is 1/4".

Dennis, I bet turning that thing was a challenge!! Very interesting form, and well executed, too - I would say "Sea Creature" fits fine! After all, Terry's are often referred to as Manta ray turnings, as I recall. Nice black on the finial - ebony??

Something IS right, what ever you call it,it is a really nice piece. That tail had to be fun to work around, one false move and you have a RED something.
Really Dennis nice piece and very good work.

Good grief! That's huge! Congrats on just surviving the turning of something like that. Wow!

That is something for sure! Other than being scary, I am not sure about how you did that.

Does it move? Looks like it could just crawl away! I like the organic form and your sea creature description fits well! Thanks for sharing!

Does look alive! Must have been a bit scarey when it was spinnin. Nice piece.
