I recently got a Monster art. arm. hollowing rig. What is the consensus of opinions that a hollow form should be turned. Talking about a relatively small opening, say one and one-half in.To some, that may be an abyss but, hey, I am still learning. One day, gonna learn how to post pitchers here. Max.

Max, speed probably has more to do with the diameter of the piece and the wood species than the entry hole. Most of my forms are 5-7" in diameter, and domestic hardwoods. I hollow at about 800-1100, depending on the cut I am getting.

On the entry hole, 1.5" isn't too bad. About the smallest I can do seems to be about 1.125" or so. On occasion - an inch. But, I like lids, so the 1.5" is really about right for most of my stuff.

I'm usually in the same range as John... Sometimes I get up to 1300 or so, but generally I'm at or slightly below 1000. I don't think the speed is critical for the things I've done so far.
