Hi all. This is the latest backsaw handle design I just finished . It is much smaller in overall size to the previous handle I made.

You will notice the top and bottom outer edges of the new handle are now rounded off. I think it adds a lot more appeal to the final appearance.

The timber is Tasmanian Blackwood.

Here is another one made out of Jarrah which I fitted to my dovetail saw.

I am quite happy with this new design.

I like them both but prefer the one on the left. To me it says, "Here is a block of wood holding a blade with a loop of wood piercing it top and bottom to form a handle."

I like the squared-off look better than the rounded. It's that bauhaus urge for form to follow function.

They look good.

Just one question, since there isn't a "lamb's tongue" at the bottom, is the round carving called a "lamb's eye"?:D

Hi Jim. Difficult to answer your comment. You have left me feeling a little "tongue tied".
