Thanks to Scott Crumpton's post...I emulated his awesome design...works GREAT! I used a 3x2x3 Y-fitting and split a piece of 2" PVC for the collection port under the lower guides. Also used a small piece of 1/4" hardboard cut in a half circle to block the 4" dust port and balance the suction between the two sections as described by Scott; I found 60% blockage great for my application....wayyyyy better collection than I had before.

Can you post a few more pix, Chris? I'd like to do this to mine.

yes, please post a LOT of pictures. if i would have noticed the Grizzly didnt have any type of dust collection right under the table
i would never have bought it in the first place and i would have kept my Ridgid saw instead. and can you please post the link to
Scotts thread on his fix.

I'd like to see pics, too.

I've bookmarked a fair number of sites that talk specifically about this: improving dust collection at the band saw.

Here's a few:

Lots of the others, I fear, would be against the terms of service of SawMill Creek. This is one of the rules that I'm NOT crystal clear about. How can I post such info without running afoul of the (reasonable) rules ?

Interesting... I have the exact saw with DC hooked up to the single factory 4" port. There's close to 100% capture - almost nothing left in the case, on the wheels, or on the table. Obviously the OP had a different experience. I wonder why?

Here's how I did mine a few years ago (note that I did NOT have the DC on when I cut that piece of PVC though)

Timely thread - I too would appreciate photos. I've been looking at how to accomplish this on my saw as well.

Did my best to get a couple more photos...

Here's the blockage I created with some hardboard, again a little more than half covered:

Here's how I adapted the 3x2x3 y with a scrap of 4" and a couple of hose clamps...I then seal the cut up with some duct tape:

And here's the best I can do on a shot of the half cut "zero clearnace" piece under the table:

Really was quite easy to throw together...getting the angles just right was unecessary with a little creativity and some PVC glue. I left one joint un-glued to allow for quick breakdown during blade changes.

Hope these help...

Chris

On my Delta, I just went for under the table DC, using 4" sewer pipe. It was a "Top Tip" in Wood magazine last summer.

I think all you have to do is not make the link "clickable", for instance www(dot)something(dot)com. For Ebay items, just post the auction #. Anyone who can't be bothered to copy & paste and/or edit the link or auction # doesn't have much of an interest anyway IMO. Some time ago Keith explained why he didn't want hot links. It amounted to using SMC's resources to promote someone else's commercial interests as I recall.

I am guessing you mean they would be direct links to other forums? If so I don't know of a way to transmit that info without snapping the rules.
