Well have been doing some more practice while awaiting my oil pencils to arrive which I will use when burning some vases. I love doing roses as those were my mothers favorite flower and are kind of dear to my heart. Also love doing butterfly's. Got some great pictures at Tony De Masi while visiting last summer. My wife took a lot of photo's of them on his wife's butterfly bush. There will be other patterns used as I become more confident. Oh and a steadier hand.:D Thanks for looking.

Bernie, you're looking good there! This is gonna open up all sorts of possibilities with your woodturnings and I'll be looking forward to what you post on this. I'm just beginning to think through some of the things that you can use woodburning for on woodturning. I'm sure the sky's the limit with how you can embellish things.

Now those are just plum purdy!!! Nice stuff there Bernie............put a few of those on some bowls and platters, and you won't have time to get them all done before they are sold!

The ladies should love those!

Real nice stuff Bernie. Yea, that steady hand thing keeps me from doing lots of little intricate lathe and other works.

Oh, I'll tell my wife to expect her collaboration fee soon.:D

Impressive that you were able to get those flat square boards off the lathe!! ;)

I like the designs, any of those would look great on a platter. Great use of color and shading as well.

What burning system are you using? Did you use a writing tip for the outlines?

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. I think this may get addictive. It has been a lot of fun learning. I have a couple of DVD's and a couple of books so have been doing a lot of reading and watching instead of turning.

Tony the wife said she would like to have one of those bushes that attract butterflies. She said she would see what she could do.

Bernie, that is a nice inspiration to me. I've been wanting to do this burning thing for a long time now but haven't dove into it yet. Your work is getting me in the mood. I need to get a burner and tools to work with. What kind of paint did you use on the projects?

Donny I have the Optima 1 with 4 pens. The red rose was done with red and green dye. The butterfly was done with with white and orange ink pen. The dark area was burned.

Thanks again to all.

Looks very good! Last weekend I attended the Tennessee Woodturning Symposium in Nashville and went to four discussions by Molly Winton, a premier wodburning woodturner. You may want to look at her website for some inspiration. She added a lot to her woodturning and I know you will too.

Bernie, this is some really neat work! An airbrush used in conjunction with the woodburner would be a fantastic combination.
