2nd Turning - small ash bowl

This my 2nd turning. I had a peice of scrap ash and the bowl is 4 3/4 x 1 1/2. Finished with WOP. I mounted it on the face plate with a block hot glued to the base.

Nice bowl. Can't tell from the pic, but if the outside curve continues to the bottom, the form is very nice. That being said, I'd like to see the inside curve match that of the outside all the way down. Just my impression 'cause this will hold M&M's just fine:D

Overall, nice turning Keith. I really like ash as a medium, it turns well and finishes well. I like your form, and you have a nice curve going to the bottom. If one improvement might be suggested, a form of this size can stand a little thinner walls, but this is nice! I myself do not turn everything "thin," and I am not one who believes that in order for a turning to be good, it has to be so thin that it is almost fragile.

That being said, this piece is really nice, and it would hold M&Ms really well! ;):D

Keith, nice form on the ash, and a very clear piece of wood, too. I do agree on the inside, but for a 2nd turning - GREAT JOB!!!!

Greay bowl Keith!! I would suggest leaving the groove out and go a bit thinner. 1/2" looks like a good thickness for this one. You could also add a bit of dye...black base with a yellow top coat seems good for this one. All in all...a good bowl!
