Has anyone had any dealings with Sycamore? My neighbor cut down a large one and I don't know anything about the wood.

David,
It makes nice turnings, and has beautiful grain when quarter sawn. It looks especially nice when contrast with cherry. Save what you can either in long blanks for flat work or turning stock if nothing else. I have 5 large trees on my lot, they tend to drop a lot of sticks and shed bark every year or so, but beautiful trees. I really like them because they aren't as dense as a maple or oak, so while they provide shade and relief from the sun they also allow a nice open feel.
