The R10 (http://www.headphonereviews.org/headphone/Sony/MDR-R10)'s are also nice...

If you like those, you'll love these:

"...What does the i stand for in the new GS1000i from Grado? Improved, that’s what! Featuring a new species of handcrafted Mahogany earpieces made using an intricate curing process; Grado has been able to optimize the tonal quality....It was most important to design the correct balance between the driver and our wooden driver housing to give us the resulting sound that we desired.... "

And only $995, what a steal :)

Take a look at Gary Butcher (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/search.php?searchid=133995)'s projects. Not exactly ear buds, but they are beautiful.

I was going to let you know that the Grado cans weren't a "joke" BUT I saw your avatar and figured you probably already know... :)

My wife was looking at "fashion" watches a few weeks ago and was interested in ones with wood inlays:

Ah, I must have missed the spirit of the OP :) No joke, I'm listening to a set of SR60's right now, and based on my experience with those, $995 probably IS a steal.

I noticed that, too. I guess with the right music...

I have always been a Grado fan, the AKG K1000s are good BUT I am not a fan of their top end nor the fact thay are a pain to get setup on your ears. IMHO cans should be plug and plop (on your head).

Sorry about the O/T, but do you know where I can get replacement ear pads for Grados? Mine are dry rotted and I couldn't seem to get ahold of anybody at Grado. I've had them for almost 20 years.
