A friend gave me some Walnut logs a few weeks ago. I had the bigger ones sawn into lumber but kept a couple of the small ones for turning stock. This bowl is from one of those small logs.

It's 7 3/4" x 3 1/4" and finished with MAOF. I really didn't feel like doing a HF or a regular bowl so I compromised and undercut the beaded rim with my Hollowmaster. :)

Thanks for looking and C&C's always encouraged.

Not a big bowl guy, but I like this. Sort of a closed form, opened up with a rim...... interesting wood too!

Cody, nice work on the bowl/closed form! Very interesting look with the little bit of sapwood wrapping around on the sides.

Cody,

That is great bowl. I really like this form.........the bead around the rim really sets it off. Kind of a hybrid between a HF and an open form, but very nicely done, and I like the grain and your finish is soft with just a bit of luster............real nice! Keep 'em coming, Cody!

Cody,

You did a really nice job on this bowl. Interesting form, looks like the pot for the gold of a leprechaun.

Great use of a bowl shape to accentuate a very interesting gain patter. I like it a lot.

It does look like a "Pot-O-Gold". Nice wood, finish and a very interesting rim detail.

Very nice work Cody! Really some pretty wood! I like your raised rim and the way you burned a detail line to separate the rim from the bowl.

Great form to the bowl, and I love the rim & line. Did you burn it, or is it colored some other way?

Thanks, Brian. The line was burned with a piece of 12 ga. copper wire.

Great looking bowl. The burn line makes it for me.

Cody, what a great closed bowl. This form has always been very appealing to me I especially like them with a matching lid.
