I recently acquired a Craftsman block plane which I believe was made by Sargent. (Thanks Paul!) It is like a 9 1/2 with the vertical adjuster screw. It has a lateral adjuster that is screwed to the blade. The blade is 1 5/8th and it is a standard angle block plane. My question is will the replacement blades for the old style Stanleys fit? I am not concerned about the lateral adjuster. I am concerned that the grooves look narrower to me but I don't have a Stanley to compare with. There are 8 grooves with 7 spaces between the the grooves and spaces appear to be equal size. By dint of some "fuzzy math" I think each groove is .06 inch. Does anyone know what size the grooves and spaces are in the USA made Stanley blocks or if they are compatible with this plane?
