I took my cheepie aluminum router table's legs off and inset it into a 2.5 x 3.5 piece of 2 in lumbercore. That's where I've stopped, no base yet, just the heavy table. It is stable within the new table and I've figure out how I'll extend the miter slot if I need to. What I want is a mobile "base" of some sort to take out on rebuild/rehab jobs. It needs to be simple, sturdy (very laterally stable), easy to transport, and easy to set up.
I could rig up some detachable 2x stretchers fastened underneath, with cleats to help secure it on sawhorses, but does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks.
