Low angle block plane, like a Stanley # 65, on craigslist. Guy was about
an hour and a half away, this time of year, I got him to ship it for $5.00. Plane was $10.00, shipping $5.00, Total Cost, $15.00.
About as new as you can get. Guy said he thought it was at least 50 years old. Sole just needs cleaned up a little and blade honed.
Should make a nice user.
Some believe these may have been made by Stanley for craftsman.
Thanks, Tony

I have one of those. This is the first time I've seen another one. Mine cleaned up really nice and does indeed make a nice user.

Thanks guys, yes, I have a 65 too that works well. Mike, are you using the stock craftsman blade?
I don't think this one has ever been sharpened.
Cleaned it up a little, not a great picture.
Thanks,
Tony

Hi Tony,

Yes, I am using the stock blade. Rather, I didn't change out whatever was in it when I bought it; I'm assuming it's stock.

Your plane looks like it's in great shape. Congrats!

Hi Tony,

I've had one of those for years with the original blade. It is an excellent user. You did good!

Thanks Guys,
Yeah, blade says "craftsman" on it.
Sort of a shame, the way Sears has changed over the years.
I hear where a lot of the stores are closing down.

Nice find.

I am not sure about the exact date, but the long bed at the mouth was discontinued around 1950.

Real nice plane! Clean the sole and sharpen the blade, you got a winner at a great price.
