I have been enjoying the Spalted Maple that I have. It is real easy to turn, which helps me a lot as a newbie. This is my first hollow form, kinda, it was a lot of fun, but the monster system is calling so I can tackle something larger. The Popcorn bowl I did a couple of days ago and buffed it with the Beale system. The bowl is Hut crystal coat and the HF is my home brew of shellac and Howards feed and wax. They are both about 6" wide by 4" deep. Both were turned from frozen/green to finish so will warp and likely crack. Oh well, just for popcorn, no soup:rolleyes:

More gorgeous spalted wood! They look great. You may have better luck than you think with cracking/warping because the wood is spalted... At least that's been my experience.

That wood is off the hook!!! You guys that have all this wood laying around in your "yard" are...... well right now prolly in snow. I'll keep my envy to myself. You're getting the hang of this....the monster will take you to different forms. thx for sharing!

Nice bowls. Spalted maple is one of my favorites to look at. Keep them coming.

They look great. I assume a popcorn bowl that size is for the kernels PRIOR to popping? Of course, my views on such things may be why it is easy to rest my tool handles against my belly when I turn.
